'NY Post' Photographer Was 'Too Far Away' to Help

R. Umar Abbasi, the photographer whose picture of a man about to be run over by a train ignited an Internet firestorm of fury over why he didn't try to help him instead, has written a piece in today's New York Post recounting the event, in which he says he was just "too far away" to help. His best guess is that about 22 seconds of time passed from the moment Ki Suk Han was pushed onto the tracks to the time he was struck by the train (an earlier police spokesman estimated the time to be closer to a minute). He closed with this: "I can’t let the armchair critics bother me. They were not there. They have no idea how very quickly it happened. They do not know what they would have done" ...
